Higaki Daisuke (born 1953 in
There were two reasons that made him motivated to research
and education. One is the lesson of the dynamic mountain environment which he
learnt from landslides. Another reason is his strong wish to help the people of
developing countries such as the Himalayan countries who lose their family and
property due to the erosion and sedimentation disasters.
Overall aim of his research is to develop the locality
based preventive methods of erosion and sedimentation disasters and way of
environment conservation. He believes the study of the mountain topography focusing
on the past and present geomorphic processes makes it possible.
